Road cracks are mainly divided into: 1. Structural damage cracks caused by the action of driving loads. Temperature cracks caused by temperature changes in the asphalt surface layer, including non load cracks such as low-temperature shrinkage cracks and temperature fatigue cracks. We would like to introduce the process and method of using grooving and sealing for repair, hoping to be helpful to everyone!
The grooving and sealing repair method is suitable for small and medium-sized cracks and is a universal crack treatment method. The main equipment used includes road grooving machines and filling machines. The sealing material used for repairing cracks is specially designed sealant (modified asphalt polymer), and the grooving size is 1cm wide and 1-3cm deep. The depth to width ratio of the grooving should not exceed 2:1, and the lower the depth ratio, the better.
The process flow of grooving repair method generally consists of 5 steps.
Preparation work. Check the grooving machine and sealing machine to ensure their technical condition is good; Determine the joint filling design plan based on the specific situation of road cracks; Start the sealing machine and add sealant to the sealant heating tank. Heat and stir the sealant to 193 ℃, not exceeding 204 ℃; During the heating period, the sealing machine will be towed behind the truck, and the sealant, isolation pier, indicator signs, grooving machine, and vacuum equipment will be installed on the truck and dragged to the designated construction site. Half of the road will be enclosed as a construction area.
Groove. Adjust the grooving depth of the grooving machine in advance according to the designed grooving size, and then proceed with the grooving operation. During homework, adjust the slot size in a timely manner according to the type of crack width to meet the design requirements.
Clear the groove. Use a road vacuum cleaner/industrial hair dryer to clean the debris and dust within 10cm on both sides of the cracks in the groove.
Sealing. If the seam is repaired when the temperature is below 4 ℃, the sealing machine must be equipped with preheating equipment to preheat the slotted area. If the seam is repaired without preheating at this temperature, it will reduce the adhesive strength of the sealant; If the seam is repaired when the temperature is above 4 ℃, preheating is not necessary. Generally, it is better to repair the seam after preheating. When the heating temperature of the sealant reaches around 193 ℃, use a pressure nozzle with a scraper on the sealing machine to evenly pour the sealant into the groove, and drag it into a sealing layer with a certain width and thickness on both sides of the crack.
Maintenance. After sealing the seam with sealant, the sealant should cool down and clean up the debris on the road surface before opening for traffic. The general cooling time is about 15 minutes, and the specific opening time for traffic can be flexibly controlled according to the temperature situation.(In order to prevent the wheels from sticking to the sealant, sometimes sand or lime needs to be sprinkled on it after pouring the sealant).
