Abstract

Asphalt pavements of expressways, national-provincial and municipal roads frequently suffer from potholes, alligator cracking and manhole-surround damages. Conventional repair work heavily relies on hot-mix asphalt supplied from stationary batching plants. Constrained by plant operation status and long-distance material haulage, it brings high waste-disposal cost, long lane-occupation hours and complicated multi-vehicle dispatching. The FND-RZS1000/1500L truck-mounted drum-type asphalt hot-recycling batching unit is deck-housed on cargo trucks. With drum thermal regeneration, PLC intelligent temperature control and dual asphalt-supply assemblies, it achieves 100 % on-site reclamation of waste asphalt and fresh hot-mix production for emergency pavement patching. This article compares legacy repair workflows, presents condensed specifications, and interprets core technologies from mechanical structure, power unit, electronic control and auxiliary systems, providing references for road-maintenance equipment selection.

1. Inherent Drawbacks of Conventional Asphalt-pavement Repair

Traditional pothole-repair workflow: distress breaking & excavation → waste asphalt haul-off → hot-mix delivery from batching plants → paving & compaction → traffic-control removal. Main limitations are as follows:

1. Passive material-supply constraints. Hot-mix asphalt must be produced by stationary batching plants. Long-haul transport causes temperature drop. Repair has to pause once mixing plants shut down.

2. Wasted reclaimed asphalt and high comprehensive cost. Milled old asphalt is landfilled as solid waste, while new aggregate and bitumen need purchasing, creating double-fold expenditure with poor eco-performance.

3. Complicated dispatching and long procedures. Breakers, waste dumpers, hot-mix transporters and compactors need convoy-style site arrival. Machine relocation and safety setup consume large working hours.

4. Insufficient field-site accessories. Night-time rush-repair requires extra lighting & warning hardware. Manual tack-coat spraying brings inconsistent bonding effect. Patched areas tend to re-fail and raise rework cost.

2. Deep-dive into Core Sub-systems of FND-RZS1000/1500L Truck-mounted Hot-recycling Equipment

The whole machine consists of five key modules: drum heating-mixing assembly, on-board power-generation unit, dual asphalt-supply module, PLC intelligent control system and truck-integrated lighting-warning suite. Modules cooperate to deliver waste-asphalt regeneration and on-site batching.

2.1 Drum Heating-mixing Assembly

Mixing-kettle volume options: 1000 L / 1500 L. Equipped with Italian Riello diesel burner, 360° drum rotation guarantees even heating. Double-layer ceramic-fiber insulation reduces heat loss. The first batch takes 15-20 min heating, subsequent batches only 10-15 min. Forward drum rotation completes heating & mixing; reversed screw-discharge finishes full unloading within 0.5-1 minute. Milled waste asphalt can be directly fed into drum for thermal regeneration. Aggregate and bitumen can also be added to produce brand-new hot-mix asphalt concrete on-spot, getting rid of reliance on stationary batching facilities.

Condensed key specifications:

Parameter

FND-RZS1500L (Truck-mounted)

Mixing-kettle Volume

1500 L

Single-batch Capacity

800-1000 kg

Burner Power

120 kW

Discharging Duration

0.5-1 min

2.2 Stand-alone On-board Power-generation Unit

6.5 kW generator set with gasoline / diesel options, electric-start 380 V output, supplying power for drum, burner, spraying assembly, lighting and warning devices. Built-in 45 L diesel tank fuels the heating burner, enabling off-grid field work without external mains supply. Worm-gear reduction motor drives drum mixing and forward-reverse discharging for stable heavy-load performance.

2.3 Modular Dual Asphalt-supply Module

Hot-bitumen system and emulsion-asphalt spray system are optional for separate or combined integration: -Hot-bitumen unit: 100 L insulated bitumen tank with heat-transfer-oil constant-temperature heating. It supplements bitumen binder for aged reclaimed asphalt to improve regenerated-mix quality and extend patch service life. - Emulsion-asphalt spray unit: Contains emulsion-asphalt tank, air compressor and delivery hose. Tack-coat is sprayed onto pothole inner walls to enhance bonding between old pavement and new patch. Piping supports diesel flushing to prevent bitumen solidification and blockage.

2.4 Siemens PLC Intelligent Temperature-control System

Siemens PLC touch-screen controller with imported thermocouple sensors adopts time-plus-temperature dual-control logic. The drum rotates at low-speed during heating-mixing phase to avoid asphalt-mixture segregation and thermal ageing. It speeds up for reversed discharging. Fault alarm and overload-protection reduce unexpected downtime. Intuitive HMI lowers operator learning threshold and mitigates construction defects from manual mis-operation.

2.5 Truck-integrated Lighting & Safety-warning Suite

Foldable rotary high-power LED lighting supports remote / wired control for wide-range 360° illumination for night-time rush-repair. Multiple DC12V strobe beacons and dual-arrow traffic indicators alert passing vehicles during lane-occupying repair and improve field-site safety.

3. Core Technical Values of Truck-mounted Asphalt Hot-recycling Mixing Hardware

1. Break batching-plant dependency for on-site material production. Qualified hot-mix is generated right at distress locations, eliminating temperature loss in transit and waiting for plant startup. Repair missions can be executed for remote road sections even when mixing plants are offline.

2. On-site waste-asphalt regeneration realizes cost-saving and eco-friendly maintenance. Reclaimed asphalt is reused locally, cutting virgin-material procurement and landfill expenditure and lowering solid-waste output for green road upkeep.

3. Modular selection adapts to diverse project budgets. Hot-bitumen and emulsion-asphalt assemblies can be chosen separately according to real-world demands to control capital investment.

4. All-weather emergency-repair capability. Intelligent temperature control guarantees regenerated-mix quality. Built-in lighting-warning assemblies support night-time emergency response, timely treating pavement defects and reducing repeated re-repair caused by deteriorated distresses.

4. Conclusion

The competitive performance of FND-RZS1000/1500L truck-mounted asphalt hot-recycling mixing unit stems from synergy among five systems: drum thermal-regeneration mechanism, standalone on-board power, dual asphalt-supply module, PLC time-temperature dual-logic control and truck-integrated safety accessories. It reshapes traditional repair workflows fully dependent on batching-plant hot-mix supply, achieves circular local re-utilization of waste asphalt, simplifies field-site auxiliary setup, shortens pavement-repair cycles and lowers material & re-work cost. It delivers an integrated solution for pothole emergency repair on expressways, national-provincial highways and municipal asphalt pavements.
